Hi folks, I wonder if my setup (In Sig) can reach 3ghz?

I see the RAM being the only bottleneck?

So far all my settings in the BIOS are at stock, what do I need to change to get it to run at 3ghz?

When I overclocked it to 3Ghz, I just disabled Hyper Path 3. Then i upped the voltage to 1.35 IIRC and just increase the FSB to 333. I think the motherboard runs at 1:1 divider as default which means 667 (PC-5300).

Since your ram is PC-5400 its speed is 675Mhz so it will handle 3Ghz easily. :)

Do I have to up the voltage? Could I not try it without doing that to see if its stable?

Yes you could try that mate, sure :) But mine rebooted upon loading windows :(. So i upped it a bit. But sure try it! Don't be scared :D

I didnt get very far lol.

I turned Hyper Path 3 off, changed FSB from 266 to 333.

Saved it, rebooted and the thing kept switching off, turning on, switching off, not POST'ing at all. So had to reset battery and put back to standard lol

have you tried again upping the voltage then?
let us know as im pretty new to this and reading about vdimms, MCH, voltages, ram timings is confusing me lol :)

if you just try and boot in at 3Ghz it more than likely isn't going to work, do it gradually (and yes i realise conroes can go a lot further than 3GHz)

lol yeah you'll definitely need to up the voltage a bit. And the P5W has good recovering for me . When it doesnt POST it restarts itself with stock settings and says overclocking failed press F1 to enter setup or something.

Anyway upping the voltage to 1.35 will do no harm :D. So do it :p

Using an arctic freezer 7. Currently at 3.2g with 1.375 set in the bios. Think ill leave it as is for the time being.

I can't get it to work.

I tried upping voltage to 1.35v

Then set ram thing to DDR2-533

It turned off and didnt load windows.

Then tried setting ram to auto, it went to PC2-3200 lol and turned off without loading windows.

Am I supposed to change ram voltage? As its on auto at the moment.

Is there something im not changing here...

Please someone help because I leave stuff on AUTO and thats most likely why it's not working. And I dont know what SPD to set Ram too. It doesn't have 1:1 2:1 etc, it just has timings like 533/667 etc.

Try turning SPD off and leave the timings at what it defaults to then try it. You shouldnt need to change the ram voltage as it will pick a divider for you. Like 4:5, 1:1 etc.

Im currently using 356 fsb ram at 890mhz iirc which is actually set at 4:5.

Thats my memory yea,

Im a bit lost in the settings of this motherboard, it doesnt really give much options in terms of timings etc.

I tried volting to 1.95v no difference.

I set PCI Clock to 101, and something else to 33.33mhz which apparantly im supposed to do?

I tried Ram SPD @ Auto and it didnt work :(

Set the memory to manual. Like this

Leave at 1.95v. the other two 101, 33 are correct.
