Hey

So I have dabbled in overclocking a little over the last year or so, and I get some of the basics (at least I think :D). I have my system clocked at 3.8 GHz which is rock solid stable, and that took me like 2 minutes!

In the past when I have tried to take this system a little further, I have been quite successful but I don't know how to really find the limits of different components and be truly methodical. I was reading a post in the memory forum where Big.Wayne was walking through some guy help find the limits of his RAM first (or something like that).

These are the kind of things which I don't understand. I would really appreciate anyone who can help a little to guide me through a more methodical overclock.

My processor:
E8500

My motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P (rev. 3.3) Product Page

My RAM:
OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Revision 2 Product Page

If there is any more info you need about other components say and I'll update.

I don't think you will get past 3.8 with a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P (rev. 3.3)
and change you ram multiplier so you get as close to 800Mhz as you can (you ram can do 800mhz with 4.4.4.15 timings)

That's the best you will get on that mobo i think use Intel burn and see if its stable and
download Memtest86 and see if your ram in stable!
