Help me pick LED Vs Higher Res

Around a £250 budget which should I go for out of the

Acer S243HL

or

Samsung SM433BW

The acer looks nice and is LED however the Samsung has the higher res, which should I go for, which would have better picture quality for PC gaming.
Or is there anything else?

Oh I currently have a SyncMaster 2253BW I feel the samsung wont be much of an upgrade, but how much difference does the extra res mean?

The difference between 1650x1050 and 1920x1200 is very significant, you gain about 33% screen space. It's very usefull it if you do any kind of work on you computer.

The two things low end LED monitors have going for it atm is the slim design and better energy consumption. It's still the same kind of cheap TN panel with the CCFL replaced with white LED's, so they gain very little image wise. So if those are important to you then the Acer might be better.

Given that I find Samsung generally as a higher quality maker than Acer and that it has the correct resolution for monitor use Id say the Samsung.

Yeah thinking if I'm upgrading to a 24" I might as well have the extra res.

How much do you think my old monitor is worth?
