Hello I was wondering if a really really nice person would be so kind to help me out with my little dilemma as I am very confused :confused:

Well the problem is that I dont know what Card/Card's to get I was thinking about doing 9800gtx in Tri-Sli or 9800gx2 in Sli. Then the new 200's came out I looked at the GTX 280 and I was like :eek: too much for what it is !

Now apparently there is a new 9800gtx+ coming out ( yer? )
What do I Do :( fed up with waiting, but dont want to waste my money picking the wrong thing.
After looking on many forums the 9800gtx 3-way sli looks like that best thing for me. What do you all think?:confused:?

Thank you very much
Gino.

You are considering over £600 worth of 9800GTX's, and you think the GTX 280 is overpriced?!

Tri-SLI seems a bit of a waste to me, and the law of diminishing returns seems to apply severely with the 3rd card.

See how the 4870's go this week IMO. Could be that 2 of those on a suitable board will be hard to beat.

Failing that, if you want the fastest single card right now, the GTX 280 is still where it's at and won't have any trouble playing games in the medium term.

Budget is around £1,250 - 1,600 .
be making a hole new pc some think like,
Xfx 790i
ddr3 1333
q6600 or q9450
ect

not sure 100% about resolution i think it will be about 1680x1050 as i am thinking of getting Samsung SM-T200 Rose Red

for raw power and performance ratio I think it's going to be hard to beat 2 4850s in crossfire...

At that res, tri-SLI is wasted.

CPU = Tick
Memory = Tick
Motherboard = Depends on whether you want to go SLI or CF?

After experiencing the performance of an HD4850, I'd wait and see how good the 4870 is, and be tempted to get 2 of those on a decent X48 mobo.

EDIT: At 1680 x 1050, you might find you only need one HD4870!

Apparently Wednesday is the official release date, and all the reviews and owner posts should be up same day/day after.

I think a single 4870 1GB will be more than enough for that resolution.
Your options are:
1. Two 4850 on an X38 motherboard. (Most of the games that support CF will perform very well and even with one 4850 the performance shall be good).
2. One 4870 which is the most logical thing to do for that resolution assuming that the rumours are true and it's approx 30% faster then the 4850.(You can add another 4870 later on if more demading games emerge).
3. Wait until the 4870X2 comes out which saves you the CF problems and hussle.

There is going to be a 9800GTX+ and also the 9800GTX's are coming down in price to £130ish I hear.

Next month I think for 4870X2 or maybe a bit longer.

At the moment if you looking to blow some cash dual GX2's sounds sweet. (Just me though!)

yep definatly what guys are saying above, at that resolution the new a 4850 will be good but as you planning to spend more the 4870 when it comes out will be great for you. tri sli would deff be a waste unless you had a huge monitor.

I think two 4870s would suit perfectly here - or, like others have said, if you can wait, see what the 4870x2 is like.
