Come on guys, i really need advice on this

New build in signature is doing my head in. today from cold boot, complete fail, restart to optimised defaults.

Cant even turn xmp on without system becoming unstable.

Already rma'd one set of ram as my motherboard didnt support it, but now i have a supported set its still happening. (sorry ocuk)

BIOS upto date?

Are you using the fancy looking BIOS or the classic mode to adjust any settings?

Edit, what version of windows are you using.

Newest beta bios

windows 10

I was using the fancy hi-res tweaker, if you know what i mean?

I've tried just using xmp and setting manually, it did stay okay for a few days then suddenly cold booting or restarting would make it unstable.

Only had it at 4ghz and 2400mhz, then yesterday it died so i only had the memory set at 2400 with no cpu overclock. but it kept dying :(

Hi-res tweaker? What is that?

I'd reset your CMOS of all overclocks to start off with to make sure all your settings are default and boot from there.

Then try the sticks in XMP and see the results if that fails try testing one stick at a time as one might be faulty (try different slots).

Is the PC unstable in safe mode?

Is it blue screening, not booting, sluggish in windows/BIOS? What instability are you seeing?

Things I would do,

Use classic mode in the BIOS only to set settings and save+exit.

Flip the switch to enable the OC socket (it adds more voltage options that you dont actually need to alter) but its something to try.

Try Win7 (if you can find an ISO/trial etc) as I had something kind off similar on the SOC Champion until they fixed it with a BIOS release.

The cpu switch on the motherboard is on 1, im guessing that is the overclock setting.

Ok just to check, these are the steps i will take after the dog walk

Take out the cmos battery.

remove all ram, then try each one in slot 1 and enable xmp. then reset and try the next stick. Correct?

Not too sure if this is also related, but on corsair link it says gigabyte motherboard temp sensor 2 is -55c??

Okay guys i checked each ram stick and also done a memory test.

Memory is fine!

This must be a motherboard issue surely?

I cant be sure, there was another thread in the motherboard section not that long ago where a chap had tried nearly everything to get his PC either working/stable/usable and in the end it turned out to be the CPU, but that is so rare that I do side with RMA the board first.

nope i just used xmp of set it manually. all voltages were auto, maybe thats the problem.

need to work out what the problem is, something shady with the bios thats maybe not running 'auto' how it should be.

xmp wont set system agent voltage, you might need one or two clicks more than what auto uses

it usually helps with cold boots/loops

where is system agent voltage?

i managed to get xmp working by turning fastboot off for the memory and turning enhanced compatibility on, but im highly doubtful this will work for long

it should be in the bios/voltage section

im not sure what everything is labelled as on x99,but I know its called system agent voltage

Apologies for my entirely noobish advice, does that motherboard have cpu pins? Do they look ok?

Perhaps you have a magnifying glass?
