Hi All

Last weekend my parents showed me an ad in a magazine for a bit of hifi kit which allowed you to copy something like 5000 albums on to it and then play them from there.

It was a fairly small box and had a built in screen. I was going to do a bit of research into similar options for my parents as they were quite interested in it but it was quite costly.

Sadly I can't for the life of me remember the name of it, can anyone help???

I think be began with a Br or something, maybe brendan or similar but googling things like that aren't finding me what I am looking for.

I think youmean a Brennan JB7

linky http://www.3ga.org.uk/

These are quite old tech and cost around £400

For the same sort of money you could buy an ipod, dock speakers and amp, which would probably sound much better, I could be wrong, I have never heard one. They also have a limited CD database (2.4 million sounds like a lot but I'd rather use Gracenote or CDDB)

But they are an all in one solution for ripping and storing your music

they arent the most powerfull of things

Its certainly no better than an ipod + ipod dock in terms of quality.

if you want proper sound quality, you want to be finding a way to access FLAC files which you can store on NAS or similar, and connecting up to some proper speakers, not the tiny bookshelf things they give you the option of buying.

Ah yes Brennan, that's the one!!! I just wanted to have a look at it to see what it did to give me an idea of what I'm looking at for producing a better option for my parents.

I'd like something that can easily copy cds to as they are not massively technical with such equipment.

It needs to be easy to use and easy to see what you are playing/searching. Ideally with a little screen or something to save them having to have their tv switched on when they just want to listen to music. Controllable with a Logitech Harmony is a must too.

As for the sound quality, it'll be hooked up to a Marantz amp and KEF speakers so from that point of view it's fine.

Ideally an all in one solution would be best for their poor aged brains!!! lol
