got a new 250m drive and i want to transfer my cuurent c:\ off my old drive to new drive how do it,

i have norton ghost
paragon hd manager

i can copy data onto it, but it wont boot

its a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache

i have done ghost copy to it do i have to asign a drive letter to it?

The drive should just work and the system boot as normal. It might make some complaints because the drive is bigger but nothing serious. Not sure why its not working. Was your old drive SATA? If not perhaps your Windows installation doesn't have any SATA drivers and so doesn't know how to use your new HDD.

orignal drive was a 120gb sata WD drive new is 250gb sataII i have tried numerous times to copy partiton over data is there ut when i boot it says disk read error.

new drive is showing up in CHS mode in the bios?
other drive is LBA

I have tried setting new large in bios but i get scrambled garbage at IDE dectection page.

plz help i got this drive to be my main C:\ drive as its faster than my old WDC drive.

Edit: Ignore me :o

Edit2: Missing SATA drivers would be my bet. You could try doing a repair install on the new drive :)
