I do a bit of minor collecting - got the 2012 50p coin collection, do shot glasses from around the world (only when I visit them) got a small collection of JD.

Lego Star Wars is a good one to collect. Or, quite a popular, never going to make money one is steelbook cases for dvds/blu rays

I collect vintage home computers. I seek out mint devices, only interested if they come with the original boxes, cables, manuals and effectively as close to new as I can find them. I've spent lots on them over the years (thousands) but they are appreciating in value and they give me pleasure as I was a youth when in the 70's so grew up during the start and peak of home computing so it has a special place in my life. I don't get all silly about it, but I keep my eye out for nice machines and occasionally buy. I've over 40 of them now
