Hi, i have recently upgraded my system (will update my sig soon) and now in the market to update my LG 23" lcd gaming monitor to something a bit bigger and bit moderner.

I have made this a bit easier for you as i have done my researched so know to a point what i need but need some technical hands on advice from you clever bunch.

The 2 monitors i am really interested in that i believe best suit my card are:

Asus SonicMaster MX299Q 29" Ultra Widescreen Ultra Slim Bezel LED Monitor - Black with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower Speakers.

Asus VG278HE 27" TRUE 144Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor.

I have a MSI N760 hawk and have been told that with a bit of patiences i could surpass a 770.

So my question is the super ultra display seams very nice but unsure if my 2gb card will handle the 2650 side of the res? What will the quality be like and do you think i would end up regretting pu4chasing this monitor for some gaming/general use because of the aspect ratio?

Advice on the other monitor would be grateful.

Thanks
Jay

and do you think i would end up regretting pu4chasing this monitor for some gaming/general use because of the aspect ratio?

Yes I do, it's a monitor designed for movies rather than gaming.

You'll notice a big improvement going to 144hz for gaming though so my vote is the Asus VG278HE

Thanks for the reply mate, I thought as much as well, but I have found a few reviewers who own the LG version of the ultra wide display. One of them tested about 10 games out with it and said he could not be happier.

But you are right the monitor is designed for movies and know once the wow factor of the really wide displays becomes normal I would regret the monitor because of the aspect ratio problems I will encounter along the way. So its a no, no!

As for the Asus 144hz monitor, I have read great things about it and the fact it is 1080p means with a descent OC to my n760 I will benefit greatly by the 144hz. But on a negative side I have also read that a lot of people have problems with dead pixels on arrival of this monitor which is not really a problem as I can just keep sending it back tell I get a good one but this makes me think whats going on in quality control for a £400 monitor to be plagued with something a monitor of half the value is right 1st time?

If anyone could tell me what they think? Is Asus heading down hill? Are there better manufacturers to choose from? My budget is £400.
