first time building a HTPC however have built many a desktop, got a new tv,amp and speakers on the way and would like to have a simple HTPC setup to play music, watch the odd film off and possibly general web surfing, i got a desktop for doing my gaming so no gaming power really needed however wouldnt mind if there was the ability to have a quick game on there only thing chosen so far is the case Lian Li PC-C32, for the price i think it looks ok.

aslong as it can output music at a good quality and also play high def films without to much strain i would be happy

any thoughts or comments welcome

budget is cheap as possible but could splash £400-500 easy, a bit more if theres a major difference

Just been looking at the case. It looks nice but big for a HTPC. why not look for something a little smaller and cheaper. The new PC-C36 looks nice and is a lot thinner. Maybe check out some of the silverstones.
Just wondering in terms of what motherboard to look for - ATX or MATX. Also would you be looking to overclock as that case has enough height to get some good cooling in.
Is power consumption and noise an issue?
