I have been messing around with clock settings. Trying to get the 400/1600 divider working and finally got it to boot. But to my surprise when i get to windows it asks me for a password! I dont use a password on my account! I have restarted the machine and changed back to safe settings and still the password.

Any help? How to get around the password etc.

When you installed your Operating system did you set an Administrator password? Thats probably the password that it is after.... If you cant find/ remember it etc it maybe a reformat job for you!

This probably would have generated more interest in the Windows & Other Software forum....

We used to use a linux boot disk which could read and change the accounts on NTFS partitions, google linux password changing boot disk, can probably get it on bootable usb these days.

Good luck

Can remove windows passwords from a bootable cd easily enough.

However it seems vanishingly unlikely that altering bios settings would set a password on a windows account. I think someone's playing mind games with you. Worth asking a mod to move this to the windows forums though.

When I used to work in 1st-line support (end users), I had a few customers phoning up who claimed to have been locked out with passwords that they haven't themselves. It's usually down to either a virus, a corrupted SAM file or a housemate had played a prank on the customer.
