My Gainward bliss AGP7800gs+ has suddenly started refusing to start windows.
It gets right to the windows XP loading screen where the little balls are moving across & then just before it should load the desktop it freezes.

It locked up this morning & the mouse & keyboard would not respond either.
Its not a windows problem as it does it with both of my drives.
Tried it with my old 6800GT & it loads up without problem however, (glad I kept it) reset my bios to defaults also.
The card was one of the 1500 worldwide limited edition with Gainward lifetime warranty from ocUK but I can't find the receipt  as I reckon its less than 18 month old, EDIT: discovered it was last April /May as I refer to my getting it on forums
plays Crysis on mostly high settings no probs.

Any ideas please

Apart from it becoming too hot (probably unlikey, but worth a try), check to see whether the fan is clogged.

Removing the driver for the 6800GT using a program called drivercleaner, then insert 7800GS and fresh install drivers.

Have you tried a fresh install of XP using the 6800GT then swapping, or just a fresh install with the 7800GS.

Lastly do you have another machine to test it on? Might be worth a try.

Hope one of the above fixs it, and you get it fixed;)
