Just ran the benchmark test in HD tune and this was the result:

:(

Last time i ran it, it was about 400mb/s!

I have no idea why its so slow. I ran ccleaner i have just upgraded to the latest firmare (any probs with that?). Any suggestions apart from re-formating and starting again?

The drives may need TRIMmed. If you are running a RAID array then sadly you will need to create an image of the array, break it down, create a new partition on each drives. Run OCZ Wiper (get it from the OCZ forums) and then re-create the RAID array and image back to the array.

I thought ccleaner does the same as TRIM for RAID? Thats what i read on one of their forums.

It can do the same, but results are mixed on single drives and poor on RAID. Mainly the successes have been with JMicron drives. Wiper is fantastic for Vertex though.

It shouldn't take too long... and it'll get you used to making images - which is good housekeeping anyway! Have a search over at the OCZ forums for tips on imaging and what software works, and what doesn't

I too used the "Wipe Free Space" option in CCleaner on my Vertex RAID and it absolutely killed my read and write speeds. However I have read that this works quite well for the OCZ V2 series.

You will need to follow "The Halk's" advice to restore full performance, this is similar to what I had to do to get back mine.

A good prog for imaging is Acronis True Image, the "clone" option worked a treat for me.

Good Luck,

Cyc.

Off topic but what's the application your using for your funky icon holders?

Dont think i'll bother with imaging doesnt take long to do a fresh install expecially with these drives :D! Just a bit of a farce having to put another drive in to install an os on so i can see see them as "spare" drives!

gary: Its a stardock piece of software called "fences"

For now it's much eaiser with 1. Apparently this month OCZ come out with a new firmware which supports W7 RC1 TRIM. Once that's out wiper won't need to be run, however it'll still require device driver support (from Adaptec, Intel, Highpoint, AMD, Areca etc). Once that's all in place then an array will wipe just as well as a single drive with wiper.

I'm not so sure they are right about the trim. That would only affect write speeds and not so much read speeds. No way in heck would I say going from 400mb/s to that is due to the drive needing trimmed. I can show you befores and afters of the trim with my drive and you will see it's only the write speeds that are affected by this.

It affects read speeds too.

He's running it on an OS drive, which causes dips in the graph. He's also using HD Tune which isn't so great for SSDs. ATTO gives a better picture.

Does look better with ATTO but still not as quick as they should be!

Will do what you suggested tonight.

Yeah for a RAID 0 setup with two drives you should be getting something similar to mine in performance.

Something is wrong here, have you installed the latest chipset drivers, Intel Matrix Storage Console and enabled volume write-back caching?

His performance degradation is in line with mine before I broke my array up and used wiper. At least what's showing on ATTO anyway.

However most people find that performance is substandard on ICH10R unless they have IMSM and have enabled write back as you've said. What I think makes that an unlikely cause is he was previously enjoying 400MB/sec sequential reads.
