I'm having a major problem getting rid of malicious code sitting in a directory called Netproject.
This is causing so much trouble with naught pop-ups etc.

The two main files will not END PROCESS in TASK MANAGER.
You can't delete them from file manager.
The PC won't boot into SAFE MODE (any of them)
I've tried KNOPPIX which I thought would work but I can't delete any files that are on the c:\ drive.
I made a bootable floppy but for some reason I can't go from the a:\ prompt to c:\ (it says invalid drive specification)

The owner doesn't want me to format.

Any ideas?

The only problem is that when a programme is loaded into memory you can't delete it.

I downloaded a bootable NTFS disk and was able to do it from DOS.
Apparently the boot disk that XP makes won't recognise NTFS disks.

Thanks

Usually when you can't delete a file because it's in use, you can still rename it. Try renaming the relevant files and then rebooting and see what happens.

Unless, of course, it's permissions preventing you from deleting them, in which case log in as an admin, take ownership of the files then nuke them.
