Hi guys,

Finally finished my first PC build and everything is fine and dandy except for the fact that when I boot up the PC it sometimes boots up first time or more often than not it doesn’t!

The beep code is a long one when its fails to boot and a normal short one when it succeeds.

I’ve tried it with and without the GPU, and also left just one stick of RAM in but still no joy. I have also tried both sticks of RAM in every possible configuration within the 4 slots.

When it does finally boot up after pressing the reset button once or maybe twice/trice everything is fine except that it will not go into standby/sleep mode but instead just switches off completely.

I have checked the bios thoroughly and CPU temp is fine etc. Also, checked for bios updates at gigabytes website but nothing seems in urgent need of updating.

I would greatly appreciate your help, please!!

One long beep... isn't that a memory problem? Try booting with just one stick, and then the other one. If that doesn't work then clear the Bios:

Remove the little "coin-like" battery on the motherboard.
Move the "clear CMOS" jumper on the motherboard from pins 1&2 to pins 2&3.
Wait 30 minutes.
Replace the jumper to pins 1&2.
Put the battery back.
Close the case and start the computer.
Enter BIOS and choose "Load setup defaults" (or something similar) - save and exit BIOS.

You have checked that you're getting enough power, yes?
