Hello,
I have upgraded this machine and the new mobo only has one ide cable socket. The problem is the cdrom is at the top of case and hdd near the bottom which is forcing me to connect the hdd in the middle of the ide cable. on the old board they both had an ide socket each asnd seperate ribbons. I have tried those liottle jumper setting on back of drive but does not make any difference. Is there a way I can turn of this "No ide Master HDD Detected Press F1 to resume" If I press F! the system will boot just a pain having it stop on boot up asking for the F1 keypress.
system is :

Asus P5B-TMX/S Socket 775
pentium 2.6 gxz
1x2gig PC2-5300 cl5 240 pin:confused:

'upgrade' you say????? Lol....you sure? Blimey, IDE ribbon on a 775 board, holy bottlenecks batman?
Sorry,
Anyway, best thing to do is to move the cd-rom down, it really ought to be on the slave connector which is the middle (usually grey) one, so that the hdd is on the master (as oyu already know)
You could set the jumpers on both to CS (cable select), then it shouldn't matter.

To my understanding the primary HDD must be in the Master position of the IDE cable, in this case the end.
You will have to move the cd rom down (if you have space).

i find that the machine is slow booting up and like when you open my computer its got the torch looking for it. It does eventually come up and once its done it its real quick the next time. Is this a bottleneck?
