I don't think it's a bios failure but I did reflash it after u mentioned it. I don't think it's the bios as you can still hear the sounds when it loads into windows

You've confirmed the 4070 works in your sons pc but did you try a different GPU ?

Yes my 4070 works in my son's pc and his works in mine without display

i assume not but is the gpu on a vertical mount / riser cable?

I flashed my bios yesterday and had to manually set the pci to pci 3 before it would work

Admittedly knowing nothing about your mobo, if it has onboard graphics have you tried that?

No onboard GPU
It's the gigabyte x570s with the 5800x3d
I was thinking maybe a setting in the bios was stopping it starting?? Unfortunately I can't see the screen after going through the bios clear

This is what I was thinking.
Possibly a clash in the bios stopping it start up but I can't see screen

Sorry if I missed it, but do you have a second graphics card and if so have you tried that? If that gets into bios then manually set PCI to 3.0 rather than auto

Yes I get the same result with my son's gpu

Have you tried everything out of the case? Motherboard on a desk and everything plugged into it there. I’ve had success with this in the past, maybe something wasn’t quite fitted well into a socket.

Am I understanding this correctly that you can hear windows working through the speakers? So you think it is booting all the way into windows and your display is blank, but the monitor isn't going to sleep so is getting some form of signal?

Are the speakers through the monitor?

Have you tried Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B? (that's just from some googling, but sounds like it might help with a blank screen in windows).

What are your sons GPUs?

When i first built my AM4 PC i had no display with a RTX 3070 but a GT1030 worked.

No the speakers are seperate 5.1 into the motherboard

Shall try that but not sure what it does though

In the house we have pcs with an rx580, 5700xt 3080ti and my own.

I only tried the 3080ti to avoid messing with drivers etc

Mine just would not work with PCI-E 4 (I had to RMA the CPU and after that all was working great).

What was your GPU before the 4070?

Maybe worth trying the RX580, if it will work with Nvidia drivers installed.

I never had one. Built this pc few months back. Before that I was on ps5
