ive read the stickys looked at all the faqs and been to the irc (no one was there :( ) now i am asking everyone:

i have a E6300 (stock level) and wanted to know how to set up f@h as a service, do i need to have two of them? and if i do how?
any help apreciated

Welcome - the Windows SMP is all well and good but some of the WUs would require your machine to be running pretty much 24/7 and not have much else running (a bit unrealistic for most normal users)

edit: As for setting up 2 standard clients (unless you want to give the SMP client a try - can't hurt after all) then you can't get much clearer than the steps in the sticky

# Intro
# Windows - Setup for single CPU
# Windows - Performing the registry edits
# Windows - Setup for Dual Core, P4 HT, and Multi Processor machines
# Windows - Running F@H

Tell us where you've got to and we'll see if there's anything extra we can think of

id love too!

but i cant :( becuase i brought a prebuilt pc because it was cheaper...

You might get a mild OC what's the PC model and your bios options - or possable future upgrade to a better motherboard (and PSU if it's a Dell that is as they swap the wires around :( )

Edit: oops sorry for forgot to say Welcome to the team. :D

thats good to know thanks!
i have a HP m7630.uk :My Specs theres nothing in the bios, its locked. what mobo would i need? and would it work ok?

sorry i know this is the wrong board... but i might as well ask here :p

try Clockgen available via EOC here

Or for a more aggresive (and possable warrenty removing option) if the bios is password protected try here for a list of hints and tips.

But I would not recomend flashing the bios to another P5B based Motherboard unless you have money to burn, dispite what a few forums hint at.

Edit: newer version available here direct - left other link active as EOC is a trusted source of such tweeks

ive tried clockgen before but it cant chang ethe clock speed on mine it just dosent work. also my bios has no password just the options arnt visable. :(
could i get a new mobo, to replace my current one? and would it fit? and would it also work?

Theoretically you could get a new mobo. Your case and PSU should both be ATX so they'll fit. The CPU and CPU cooler should also work OK on a new mobo, assuming the cooler is not highly dependent on socket location (as some Dells are).

You could measure and make sure all the spacings are OK and the wires are all where they belong but TBH I wouldn't do it. You bought a new machine with warranty. This is, as I see it, the only benefit granted by buying pre-built. If you start to hack up your new rig the warranty goes out the window. :)
