i need to buy a new computer as my old one is dying a slowly..I dont know that much about them but have been lookng at this one
Titan Exodus" Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Quad Core DDR3 System from overclockers ..i do a lot of converting xvid and raring and paring so need a pretty fast machine anyone reocmend this machine or any other Thanks... JOHN

Whats the budget?
If Im correct, an i7 or even a hexacore (AMD X6 ideally based on price) will give the best performance for those applications.

£650?
Hmmz, Titan Decimator is definitely your best bet.
Could even whack a small SSD in there without exceeding budget too badly.

Isnt a SSD hd suppose to be slower than the normal ones is the SSD to put windows 7 on ...JOHN

the SSD is very fast (make's a normal mechanical drive look like it came from the 18th century) and is for your operating system and what ever program you use.

this leaves the 500gb harddrive for general storage/backups.

Titan Decimator is your bet bet. Much better then the i5 build.

Better RAM,
Better Cooler
Better Cooling
Better DvD Drive
Better CPU
Same price so no brainer

stulid cheers... why is this machine(Titan Decimator ) better than the one overclockers recomended (Titan Exodus)...JOHN

Its got more cpu cores so programs that are multi threaded will work better on it, its also overclocked too so will be seriously fast.

have a look at this comparision of the two cpu's at their stock speeds,

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/147?vs=191

if you look near the bottom you will see a 7-zip benchmark.

also theres this comparision at overclocked speeds - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-phenom-ii-x6-1055t-overclocking_8.html#sect0

did ocuk recommend that other one to you?

for your uses you have listed, the hex core is so much the better choice for you.
