hi im currently oc 4.4v 1.392v stable max temp 70c
i would like to reach 4.5 and have seen that it may be better on 125 strap have no idea on how to oc using this method.
i have tried to use it but ended up clearing cmos to get pc working think it was memory settings as there confusing.

anyone got any settings to use to start me off, rig is as spec.

thanks in advance

intel dont oc well on the bclk. enthusiast cpus like yours are a bit better, but 125 sounds really high. you also have to take into account that your ram will be faster with 125 bclk. i would just use the multiplier to 44 with a 103 bclk. that would get you 4.532ghz. 43 and 105 would give you 4.515ghz. try with lower bclk's to start with and put the multiplier down x1 at a time and up the bclk to compensate. when it becomes unstable, go back to the previous setting.

As above, change to 125 strap, multi to x36, adjust mem multi to suit.

Adjust bclk either way to finely tune (think raising would be the preferred option), you don't need to hit the stated mem speed exactly so don't get hung up trying to get it.

You might also find you can use less volts for the same given freq for cpu.

thanks for advice not sure on the memory part in what to choose when using 125 strap tried the given speed had to clear cmos to get pc running.

Adjust it to whatever is closest to stock speed. Better to underclock it than OC as you'll end up OC'ing cpu and RAM at the same time. If you pick the closest profile to stock and it's slightly under, just increase bclk if needed. Can't remember off the top of my head what mem dividers you get with 125, maybe someone else can check, but pretty sure around 2600 is no problem.

As others have said, adjust the memory multi down.
I use the 125 Strap on my 3820.

I tried using the 125 Strap on a 4930 I have which is a bad clocker and it didn't really help much.
Still didn't want to play ball at 4.5.
