Well guys its my birthday coming up and ave got money too spend

Do i buy a i5 750 mobo combo or a ati 5850?

The reason am asking is what would give me a better fps on my current favourite game bad company 2

my computer specs
Q8400
ati 5770
4gb kingston 800
psu jeantech 500w
windows 7 x64

What's your motherboard?

If it does crossfire then get another 5770 and a good quality psu.

2x HD5770 cards have performance approaching and sometimes matching a single HD5870 in some benches I've seen

It will.

But a i5 750, motherboard and ram will cost about £350.

Another 5770 and quality psu will be about £195.

The i5 will give you a boost (~12-30% in these benches) but you'll need a new mobo as well as the CPU which is a ~£250-£300 upgrade. And gaming performance may be limited by the single 5770 if you go that route

Another 5770 is a bit more 'bang for buck' at £120ish and ought to give better performance in games.

They're both worthy upgrades in their own way

Still un-decided on this as you both point out there good upgrades

I just need to decide if i want newer tech like the i5 or go crossfire route

I'm not sure, it depends on the resolution you play at, but I think most games will be GPU limited rather than CPU

I think you should now do a "best out of three coin flip" to decide which route to go.
