HELP NEW 7600GT ONLY SHOWS AS 4X PCI-E ?

HI ALL

just bought this from mm was new and sealed installed it with latest drivers

thing is in both cpuz and on the drivers info it shows as 4x wtf should this not be 16x please help need to get this sorted

What motherboard do you have? Does it support 16x?

yeah i have a msi K8NGM2-FID (GeForce 6150 + nForce 430)

taken from msi site just now


One PCI Express x 16 slots.
• One PCI Express x 1 slots.
• Two 32-bit Master PCI bus slots (support 3.3v/5v PCI bus interface).

Make sure 16x is enabled in bios?

As above. If it still doesn't work maybe a bios update?

i cannot find anywhere in the bios to check what speed all the is is a tab for which card i am using pci-e or onboard thats it see my other post here for the screen i am on about

i think its the card tbh just been in touch with bloke i got it from on the forums

card is a bfg 7600gt he got it earlt sept and it was still sealed now i think these factors are leading me to think there is a prob with card


A) i put my 6800gs back in and it shows 16x fine

B) i read on a forum that bfg had a batch of faulty resistors which caused probs re this

C) when the package arrived it had a bloody great dent in the side of it


it has to be the card i wish it wasnt but the above factors just lead me to that conclusion

just reinstalled my 6800gs so you guys can see it aint mobo prob

I had a problem like this on a asrock board, try updating the m/b drivers.

motherboard drivers are the latest 8.26 from the nvidia site

gfx drivers are the latest out

bios is the latest one on there

Are there any adverse effects to having it running in 4x?

Have your benchmarks suffered?
