HELP! New build not connecting to monitor

Ok, this sounds like a RAM or motherboard issue now.

It is very unlikely that all three of your RAM sticks is faulty- so I suggest you do the same MemOK button procedure with the other 2 sticks on their own. If you do this and you get the same result then the RAM is most likely OK and its a motherboard issue. The RAM is also certainly compatible with that board.

Make sure that when you are installing just one RAM stick you install it in the second RAM slot from the left.

Are you absolutely certain that the RAM module is fully inserted (with the plastic locking tabs fully interfacing with the notches on the side of the RAM sticks)?

One thing that I really hope isn't the issue is a bent CPU pin. Would you be able to check if any of the CPU socket pins are bent?

Just another idea. Never ran X58 so not sure about this solution.

Have you tried the RAM in slots 2, 4 and 6? (and 1,3 and 5? if already running in 2, 4 and 6)

and as cmndr just mentioned, check the ram is underneath the locking tabs.

i just checked if all the RAM sticks were inserted correctly, and they were. i then changed there slots (they were in slots 2,4 and 6) to slots 1,3 and 5 and tried the MemOK button. now the computer doesn't even turn on!! the fans spin for about 1 second then it just shuts down. i purchased all my parts from Overclockers UK excluding the power supply and system case, will i be able to return them?

Looking at page 2-10 of the manual, if you install the memory in A2, B2 or C2 (1,3 or 5) then the system won't boot. Just move the memory back to A1, B2, C2 (2,4,6) and you should be back to were you were before.

That said, I would suggest just using one stick in A1 (second slot from the left) as it will allow for a proper boot (so long as everything else works) and it will allow you to test the RAM sticks one at a time.

I moved the RAM sticks back to slots 2,4 and 6 and still the system doesn't turn on :( i have also tried it with just one stick of RAM in slot 2 and re checked all the connections and it still doesn't turn on. i really don't know what to do now

As I mentioned above, this really sounds like a motherboard problem. It was most likely faulty on arrival since you never got a display output (and the graphics isn't the problem) hence it never properly booted.

I suggest the next step you take is to contact OCUK customer service about your issue and either link them to this thread or detail the tests you have done so far.

When you do remove the CPU and cooler from the motherboard, have a look at the pins in the CPU socket and see if any of them are bent.

I believe this is the correct place to post to contact OCUK customer services about your issue. Posts here are private and can't be seen by other members.

Thank you very much for your help guys, i will now try and get my components tested and replace the faulty ones. - and i will be sure to check the cpu pins and post any updates in the evening.

It must be the motherboard, i have tried a second 650 watt power supply and still the system does not switch on and both my PSU's work in my old computer.

I forgot to also say one last thing. It can't hurt. Have you been trying different single ram sticks to boot? Maybe the one you are always using for single is the faulty stick.

hi, i have tried different single RAM sticks and in different slots. whats funny is that i came home and thought i should power on my system one last time and it turned on :D ive switched it on and off at least 10 times and it powers on successfully. but the problem is still there of the MemOK LED being constantly on regardless of which RAM sticks/how many ram sticks and which slots i put them in even after i press and hold the MemOK button as the motherboard manual indicates. Also there is still no display :( have any ideas whats going on?

Did you read any of the thread ? :p

OP - return the motherboard to OCuK and link them this thread.

Good luck.

Do you think it could be the RAM being faulty instead? since this afternoon the system switches on successfully but still with no display on my monitor, the fan on the cpu cooler and the gpu are spinning as well as the case fans but i still cant seem to get the MemOK LED to turn off it is solidly on no matter how many RAM sticks in the slots i put in there after i hold the MemOK button.

Where on earth does he say he used different sticks? I must have missed it. He could have easily been using the one faulty RAM stick all the time.

mardin, it's very unlikely since you have tried different sticks that the RAM is at fault.

Ive just attached a motherboard speaker to my motherboard and turned the system on. There were NO sounds/beeps whatsoever. does this mean motherboard failure or? everything else seems to be working such as the cpu cooler fan, case fans and gpu fan, but the MemOK light is still on constantly. any ideas?
