I built a new machine this week:

Intel i5 2500K, Asus P8P67 PRO, Corsair XMS3 4GB RAM, OCZ Agility 60GB SSD, Samsung 1TB F3 HDD. All was fine after I finished the build and installed W7HP. I transferred all my files over from my old machine, then tonight I put the side panels on and move the machine from my lounge to the study. It now fails to power up. The green LED is lit on the motherboard, When I hit the power switch the fans come on, a red LED labelled 'CPU LED' comes on, then within a few seconds everything shuts down again.

I've checked the connections and can't figure out what I've disturbed. Any ideas please?

Did you check your components are fully seated, check your motherboard has not moved during moving and course a possible short.

Power to the cpu. When I built a p8p67 rig I forgot to connect the 2 * 4 pin cpu power leads. The cpu led lit up as a result. I know you've checked connections but might be worth checking again. Also worth reseating connectors and ram etc.

Jeez, I've now traced the problem. Just before putting the panels on I connected the top fan on the case to what I thought was a three pin fan power socket. It's at the top of the motherboard and is right next to the 'CPU FAN' four pin socket. I have fitted a Corsair A50 and connected it to the four pin socket, and had erroneously plugged the yop fan in to godknowswhat. I can't find any reference to it in the manual. With the fan cable removed the system powers up fine. I just hope I haven't inadvertently cause some sort of damage...
