Hey,
im going to be doing my first system build but iam very much a noob in this area so would greatly appreciate a huge guidance in the right direction.
i'll be using my system for audio applications (mainly live 6.0, reason 4 & sound forge) so it will have to be able to shift around huge audio files easily and quickly and also be able to process big stacks of VST effects with little effort on top of this. i'll also be using it for mp3's and converting video files to psp mp4 format but i'd imagine these are minor effortless tasks compared to my main applications. i'm building for reliability and the best quality i can afford. graphics arent a big issue as long as it shifts everything smoothly and quickly as i wont be playing games on it.
heres what im currently eyeing up:
PROCESSOR::: intel core 2 duo E6750 2.66ghz
MOTHERBOARD::: i havent got a clue what to go for but hopefully you can base it around my other wants and advise the best for me. i odviously want SATA on it with at least 1 IDE connector. must be able to take DDR 2 ram and minimum of 6 USB connections, firewire if not to pricey, and an intel chipset. looking to spend around the £80 mark for this.
RAM::: not sure again but want rock solid reliability and DDR 2. looking for at least 2gb.
GRAPHICS::: Asus GeForce EN7300GT-HTD Silent 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) (or similar)
SOUND::: got this covered but intergrated chip on m/board would be nice to it comes through
HARD DRIVE::: system drive- Western Digital Raptor 36GB 10000RPM SATA
second drive- Samsung SpinPoint T 500GB SATA-II
CASE::: Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case (or similar, prefably cheaper!!!)
PSU::: havent a clue but enough to power it all (odviously
)
COOLING::: again not sure as iv heard so much about cooling its confusing. would like a high quality heatsink and CPU fan. just plenty to keep everything happy.
thats it i think except for cables etc. im looking to spend around £700 in total but if it turns out less it would be a bonus.
apologies for the very nooby questions, all help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
