HELP!

I have just tried putting a XFX 5870 card into my i7 920 GA-EX58-UD5 mobo and nothing happens when I switch the machine on.

If I put my old card in, the system boots up fine...

Do I have a dodgy card???

Maybe - You say nothing happens when you switch on - literally nothing ?

Can you try the card in another computer?

What were you using for graphics? and what PSU are you using?

You've got everything connected - 2 six pin power connectors , card seated correctly etc

Just too slow !!-getting old(er)

Some of my ?'s may still be pertinant so ;-

Hi

I don't have another PC to try it in...

I was using a GeForce 8600, and that still works.

I have everything connected, the 2 X 6pin PCI E power and it is sitting in the PCI E slot. The fan is spinning on the card.

But I get nothing when I plug the monitor in to either DVI port??

Sounds like a DOA card mate. If you say the other card works in your system. The only way to check its the card is put it another system but looks to me a DOA.

Are you using a dvi d cable?

Try switching over to VGA for initial boot (vga/dvi adapter if no vga input on monitor) and see if that yields any results.

Yes, I have tried the VGA cable, nothing...
I will have to try it in another system... But it doesn't look good!

What is the process now to get a new one?
I purchased this in the States :(

ok, im having the same problem, almost. when i got this 22" moniter from my brother, he thought it was broken because no picture. i discovered that you needed to boot pc in vga first, then switch over to DVI when windows is up and running. now all was good with that and my 8800gt, but now that i have a hd5870, i can only use vga, no DVI :'( and thats destroying my experience.. vga is horrible, i feel like throwing up, literally! so much for a christmas present.. cant even use my card :( any help would be greately appreciated

Guys, I thought I better update anyone who cares out there... :)

I got my XFX 5870 working!

After speaking with the support teams at XFX, they recommend that i upgrade the BIOS on my EX58-UD5 mobo. I didn't think it would work, but it did!

So my system is now complete! Next step is to overclock the i7 920! :D
