Hi guys,
I`ve finally managed to get my E6600 stable at 3.240 ghz @1.40vcore with a load after 8 hours of dual prime 95 (small ffts) @ 53 deg. I wanna let the TIM on my tuniq cure so wanna get the ram up to speed now. My ocz gold edition 667 is running (according to cpuz) at :

360mhz
FSB - 1:1 (set at sync in bios)
CAS latency @ 5
RAS CAS delay @ 6
RAS precharge @ 6
Cycle time @17
bank cycle time @ 22
command rate @ 2T
voltage is 2.1 in bios

I`m aware that the fsb is overclocked but would i be better setting it at a 667 divider in the bios then trying to tighten up the above settings? (ANY ADVICE ON WHICH TO CHANGE WOULD BE AWESOME AS THE MEMORY CONFUSES ME!!!)

I`ve found this review on the ram, shall i try the timing they have tried here and see if it stays stable through a prime 95 blend run (do i still have to run two prime 95`s as i`m just going for ram now)
(timings used are 5-5-5-15)

Thanks for the help!
Cheers,
Smegle

Well IF that is the exact same ram as in the review, they specify the following settings. . . .

CAS = 4
TRDC = 4
TRP = 4
TRAS = 8

What does the label say on the ram itself. . . i.e ram type & settings?

it is the gold edition, i asked the shop today.
shall i keep the voltage at 2.1v?
also, where did you get the figures above from?

also, when running prime 95 blend, do i need two windows open like when i`m testing my processor? (orthos won`t run on my comp)

The settings should be specified on the sticky label that is on the ram heatspreaders, it should also specify the voltage it should run at, the voltage should be 1.8v I think.

I googled the ram you mentioned to aquire info. . . www.google.co.uk :)

What happens when you try to run orthos, it should work. . . !!!!

when i try to run orthos it says "the application failed to start because the WORKER.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem"

tried re installing to no avail!

just looked at the sticker. Its PC5400. Its here on the ocz website. Will this be ok running at these timings with it overclocked then?
linky
says 4-4-4-8 on the side of my ram though.

so do i need to set the divider to the 667 setting in the bios then to run the tighter timings? (3:2 667 divider?)

Well the rams rated at 667mhz / 2 = 333FSB 1:1, so 9 x 333 = 2.997ghz clock, it may go more other than that you could run a divider or lower the timings to Cas 5. . . . have a try & see. . !

well my ram is running fine at the settings i`m using now. 360mhz is overclocking the ram but the ram seems to be working fine.

would you reccomend lowering the fsb to make it safer of should the system be ok the way its running at the moment?

really struggling to deciphering the differences between lowering the fsb and/or reducin the timings.
shall i try lowering the timings even more and leaving the fsb the same?

This is just my opinion ok, drop the fsb down to 333 fsb which its rated at, change the timings to 4-4-4-8, if that is stable - start increasing the fsb in increments of 5 i.e start at 335, 340, 345, see how far it will go.

What cooling are you using by the way??? check temps carefully, personally I woudnt want to be going over 60 celsius.

problem is my computer won`t post with the fsb at 667 in bios. it has to be in sync to go further than 3ghz. not sure why, do you know?

do you mean cpu temps? if so, its not going above 53 full load.
got a tuniq tower in a antec unltimate gaming case

Do you mean at the rated timings 4-4-4-8? or the auto defaults of Cas 5 etc? What motherboard you using anyway?

no thats just with the timings set to auto. I haven`t tried it at the rated timings at 667.

i`m using a p5n32 sli plus.
should the ram/cpu timing still be set to 1:1? or what divider shall i use?

lol well on the auto settings your running your ram at 360 i.e 720, your saying if you reduce the clock to 333 it doesnt post? :confused:

yeah exactly, at 667 it won`t post but when i set it to sync it automatically increases the memory fsb and it`ll post then.
any ideas?
