Hi,

Im trying to overclock my old computer with a Q6600 processor (stock: 2.40GHz) up to around 3GHz. I bought and installed a new 'Zalman CNPS8900 CPU Fan' which seems to work really well at keeping the temperatures down. I found an old thread on Overclock and tried the suggested values (although was confused by the 'FSB' values as they seem extremely low).

I successfully overclocked it to 3.04GHz and ran Prime95 for nearly 2 hours and everything seemed fine with the temperatures never going above about 65 degrees. However, since overclocking unfortunately my system is blue screening a lot (various different errors) even when just idling. Could someone have a look at my settings below and see if you can see anything to alter to make it more stable please:

VOLTAGE CONTROL:
VCore Voltage [1.43750V]
Memory Voltage [2.353V]
NB Core Voltage [1.393V]
VCore offset Voltage [Auto]

FSB & MEMORY CONFIG:
FSB - Memory Clock Mode [Unlinked]
FSB - Meory Ratio Auto
FSB (QDR), MHz [1300]
Actual FSB (QDR), MHz 1300.0
MEM (DDR), MHz [800]
Actual MEM (DDR), MHz 800.0

CPU CONFIGURATION:
CPU Internal Thermal Control [Disabled]
Limit CPUID MaxVal [Disabled]
Enhanced C1 (C1E) [Disabled]
Execute Disable Bit [Disabled]
Virtualization Technology [Disabled]
CPU Multiplier [9.0]
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep(tm) Tech [Disabled]

Im an overclocking noob so some guess work was involved! One thing to mention is in the past this computer was blue screening a lot (stock settings) and had to manually set the Memory Voltage to 2.353V which fixed it. Maybe now the other voltages are higher the memory isnt getting enough voltage or is unbalanced and is crashing again?

Thanks for any help!

The last time this question cropped up I just pointed the person at this thread HERE where I last copied and pasted some info. Hope it helps.

There used to be a monster Q6600 overclocking thread with some great info in. Just had a look for it but cannot find it :(

I had mine at 3.6ghz (G0?)
