Hey guys

My pc today has just been randomly restarting.

Today it started with me trying to boot into windows when i got home from school it got the desktop then just restarted. However after this the pc was in a constant reboot loop unit i turned it off and removed the power plug and put it back in again, which made it boot again. Since then it has randomly restarted a couple of times no certain period of time.

Ive checked temps Cpu doesnt go above 40 degress.
Video card is fine 48 Idle (G80 core)

My specs are:
Amd Phenom II 965 C3 @ 3.4 Ghz
Asus M3n-HD/Hdmi Motherboard
Kingston Value 4GB DDR2 800
XFX Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 320MB
Crucial C300 SSD and Maxtor Diamond max 21 250GB HDD
Psu: Corsair VX550 Watt.

What do you guys think?

Cheers Regards Ryan

PS: just about to run memtest.

Hey

The rebooting is a bit sporadic so cant tell if it has stopped or not.

Doesnt say anything in event viewer.

Also i have Microsoft security essentials.

I thought it could be a hardware error because of the boot cycling after shutdown.

Cheers for your help

regards Ryan

Have you tried just the essentials in the PC to test if it still restarts then if not start adding them back one by one to find the problem if its not the main components.

Or cleared the CMOS?

Is Memtest running OK without problems?

If you get BSODs in future and want to be able to read the error message, then you need to turn off the "Automatic restart" setting. There are a couple of ways of doing this:
1) in the "Advanced Boot Options Menu" (hold F8 after BIOS finishes) or
2) it can be found in the Control Panel, once you have gotten Windows booted up
Cheers :)

Hey

They haven't had one for about an hour. So may be ok

I doesn't give me a BSOD it just freezes and the monitor goes off and i know its frozen because num lock doesn't change when i press it.

Cheers Guys my fault should have said more clearly.

Ps: i seem to run out Cd's to run Memtest.

Hey

Just to let you know I have now done a couple of runs of memtest and it seems clear.

I have had a couple of video hardware errors lately might be that but it's running ok at the moment.

Cheers Guys

Good to hear ryan. :)

Lets hope it does not start again.

Are all the drivers up to date for the GPU and did you remove the older drivers before installing the new drivers?

I hope your 8800 aint on its the way out. Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks mate

I hope my card is not on the way out :) also I install the drivers over the top always have done and never had a problem.

Regards Ryan
