Help! PC to monitor output not working

Hi all, I have just moved house - unplugged, unwired my PC and monitor (was using a display port connection) and was SUPER careful with the equipment in the move (packed in original packing with cushioning etc) and now my PC powers up, my monitor powers up buuuuut no signal is detected by the monitor, no picture is displayed.

I have plugged a laptop in through display port and it works just fine.

Any help GREATLY appreciated during this isolation period.

I need some DayZ desperately.

Got an hdmi cable handy?
If mines unplugged display port does exactly the same
I connect both hdmi and display port at same time and it boots off hdmi then switches to display port
Bit weird but got used to it now

Yep tried that

Tried powering off, turning off at ON/OFF on the back, disconnecting the plug, waiting 30 seconds and rebooting... still nothing - the monitor used to recognise the input and switch on from standby but it doesn't even do that now

I'm a massive bambi when it comes to PCs. I've checked previous threads and this seems quite common?

If it has a discrete graphics card try reseating it. Also, check all of the internal cables and make sure nothing has come loose.

Tried manually selecting input with buttons on the monitor?
Or plugging both pc and laptop in to activate the monitor then switch to pc?
Assuming your monitor has 2 connection ports

Tried manually selecting input as well with one on display port and one on HDMI but nada

Try connecting pc and laptop
If that fails then as bremen1874 said check your gpu is fully in the slot
If got a gpu of course

I am quite scared to touch the internal parts *facepalm*

How do I do this?

Desktop PC, pop side of any make sure all parts are in slots fully, so RAM/ GPU (if it has one) power leads etc.

Basically open side panel ~pc turned off
Just push down on the gpu
The end/top of it that is
Ie towards the slot
Should be a screw or 2 holding it but can still come loose during transit if screws weren't tight enough

Same with ram
Just push down on the top of it
If worried post a decent quality photo
And we can look for anything obviously wrong

You are plugging the cables into the graphics card and not the motherboard, right? I've seen it happen a few times after moving house.

Don't think 3700x has integrated graphics?

Thanks all. I will park this for tonight and have a proper look tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, and I'll post some pics of inside etc in the morning and if anyone can advise that would be amazing.

Hi all, update:

It was my idiot self putting the display port cable in the wrong DP slot.

I think someone mentioned it up in the replies and I thought I had tried it but hadn't.

My brain = an abandoned barn

Don't worry we have all been there

Fumbling around at the back of the pc
And can't see exactly what we are doing lol
That's why I now have castors on mine
