sounds like a dead mobo - did you say you flashed the BIOS before you started having problems?
yep flashed bios before all problems was working fine for agis, just tsted me graphics on my brothers pc and it works fine he as an amd so i cant test anything else, its not the ram or graphics which leaves cpu or mobostealthgeek said:sounds like a dead mobo - did you say you flashed the BIOS before you started having problems?
i have no possible way of testing it though, i know someone with a 775 board and cpu but i doubt very much he will let me borrow itt31os said:Yeah, could well be...... due to what though?..... bad luck...... just seems coincidental with the CPU change, it would be ideal to be sure if the CPU works before sending the board back though.
Email Gigabyte, explain what you have here, what you've tried, and see if they can give you anything specific to try, or if they agree......
Nothing worse then sending something back to find its not faulty and getting charged for it.

about 3 weeks before, the mobo isnt posting from when i put the new cpu instealthgeek said:I was referring to this when I made the assumption about the dead mobo:
So when exactly did you flash the BIOS? before the CPU change or just after?
cant its a 955x exprees chippy wont take C2Ds grrr how life is annoyingt31os said:Then don't borrow it, pop round with your CPU & Cooler and ask him if you can run it in there for a few minutes, you'll know if it works the minute you press Power On....
Just be sure he doesnt have his voltage set lower then your CPU wants, AUTO is the easy option here, if the board has AUTO...
You only need to know if it posts and boots with your CPU to rule it out of your problems...... i would thought so anyway..... though seeing windows would be nice, just to be sure.....![]()
lol yeah sounds like, got a celery on the way to confirm thnks to everyone for the speedy replys much appretiatedstealthgeek said:your mobo has something called quad-bios, from the looks of it it has a main bios, a backup bios on-chip and a 3rd and 4th backup Bios located in a hidden hard drive partition and also on your mobo cd. Sounds very much, if this works as it should, that your mobo is just 'dead', not just the BIOS is corrupt. If you can believe Gigabytes marketing hype, then it would seem very unlikely all 4 BIOS would die at the same time...
thats what i thought, i will chuck in the celron when it comes if it still doesnt boot we know its the mobot31os said:If the CPU isnt functioning though, its not going to boot is it?..... or can you boot boards without a CPU these days?
lol i know what you mean, thanks a lot for your help, i wold have ended up rmaing my hole system to find out have the stuff works fine, this is the second board ive had thats just died, not the same onet31os said:Good luck mate.
I usually have these sort of problems, the ones where you can never be sure what is at fault...... and i end wasting money on parts that were never faulty..... so i feel ya on this one.....
Its the reason i have 2 monitors, had 2 vid cards, and had 2 mobo's..... the pain of testing can be costly.
