The hardest thing I found in pro evo is having to steady yourself before shooting. On fifa I used to just hit shoot and that was that. In pro evo I find my self thinking as if I was the striker. Stuff like: "Which is my stronger foot?", "Could I get a decent shot running at this speed in this direction?". Once you start thinking like that you will start converting lots more of your shots... although you might find you have far fewer shots!
As for the fifa vs pro evo argument: I used to be a fifa fanboy and played fifa 06 religiously. However, it quickly became frustrating as the through ball could be used to devastating effect with about 20 one on ones a game. I then switched to pro evo and haven't looked back. Pro evo does ahve its nuances but i find them more tolerable than fifa 06. Having said that, i havent tried 07 so if its as good as some people say it is - i might check it out as i have no particular tie to either game.
The level of player control in Fifa 07 is one of its strong points, and i find the controls much more intuitive and subtle as opposed to pes, which i find rather forced and clunky, as i said earlier. Once you get the hang of it the variety of moves and shots you can pull off in fifa 07 on the 360 is awesome. What you get out of it is what you put in basically. I'm really looking forward to fifa 08, fifa 07 was good but has hardly any teams or championsips.

There are 2 easy (ish) ways to score in pro evo 6.
Firstly, if you can play a through ball to a striker making a run (and they are decent), you can quickly shoot and cancel with short pass (square + X), change direction slightly (diagonally) to go around the keeper, and just tap in.
Alternatively, get the ball to a winger when they are behind the opponents fall back (or just give it to them if they are quick) and get them to run towards the edge of the penalty area. If you have a man in space, stop running for a second and do a short pass. As soon as the ball is going towards the player in the box, just hit X and they should take it first time and its likely you will score.
The most important part of attacking in PES IMO is to use the radar to find areas where their defence has gaps and you have players. I would recommend starting playing on 2 stars until you can reguarly beat good teams, then start to move the difficulty up.
