Help please, confused

I notice my new motherboard has a 8 pin connector and next to it a 4 pin. See pic (1)

My new Corsair PSU only has the 8 pin connector on the inbuilt cable and not the extra 4 connectors.

Am I missing something?... Can my PC just work off the 8 pin connector?

I'm pretty sure you can use just the 8 pin connection, the other 4 pin connection is for extra power if Overclocking on the board

Yes, you should be more than fine with just the 8 pin connected.
