I know, I posted the same days ago. I'm not sure how the OP has got on with it.
Well actually ASUS, Gigabyte, and ASRock all have downloadable tools which are meant to patch / convert the stock Win7 ISO / USB key by adding missing Intel USB / XHCI drivers for the new Skylake Chipset.
HOWEVER...
I tried all of those tools and none of them worked for me. You might have better luck yourself or end up just as frustrated as I did with the whole nonsense of it all.
So this is the simplest solution I found:
1) find any old sata HDD lying around your house. Preferably a 2.5" inch one.
2) find any old sata --> USB 2.0 caddy lying around your house. Assuming that you have one of those things.
3) Put your un-used HDD --> into USB 2.0 caddy.
4) Follow all normal instructions for burning Win7 ISO onto USB stick. Preferably just using the 'Rufus' tool. Which is simplest / easiest. Obviously you're not burning onto a USB key this time. But the external mass storage device your sata HDD appears as when you plug the caddy into the USB 2.0 port.
5) Remove SATA HDD from caddy. Put into PC on any free SATA ports.
6) Boot Win7 installer direct from burnt SATA HDD. Win7 will install ok now.
7) Problem: Win7 may be rather stupid and install the boot loader onto same said SATA HDD which it isn't supposed to.
Solution: Upgrade to Win10 for free. Then you can disconnect the temporary installer HDD you used to install Win7 with. Then reinstall Win10 from scratch. As Win10 doesn't have any such issues on skylake, it can be installed directly from any regular USB key. Remeber to format your USB key in Rufus as 'UEFI only' partition type for Win10 to make sure that the 'clean install' of Win10 is all in UEFI mode... because that will give you faster boot times (than the default legacy BIOS mode). Job done.

God knows why people are posting these elaborate "solutions" when the easiest method had been posted several times.
Install via DVD or install on another machine then transfer the drive. It's no more complicated than that.

.. yeah but it is more complicated than that. Any when guys like you don't specify either SATA attached or USB attached DVD ROM drive... well that says it all really. Because it will work one way and certainly not the other way as ^^ already posted by others here.
Actually installing direct from another SATA HDD may sound complicated... but it's no more difficult than from any standard USB key. Yet a whole lot faster than the other methods. Heck all this complexity isn't brought about by any windows users whatsoever. It is MICROSOFT + INTEL who don't publicly release a simple ISO file including the drivers, and MS again, who makes us jump through the unnecessary upgrading hoops.

By buying Windows 10.
I tried everything all of you suggested (including making sure it the USB stick was in a USB2.0 port
No avail and couldn't install it via another PC. That was the only opion I didn't get around to doing as I just didn't have the time to faff around so sent Windows 7 back. Bought Windows 10. Loaded up fine.
Note: the SATA drivers in the asus motherboard cd didn't work, nor did the ones on their website.
I kept swinging and it kept ducking and diving lol.

Good to see you got it sorted, but a shame you had to buy a new OS to do it.
