Help! please job in Building computers

The best thing you can do is train to be a Trainee technician like me.

I basically provide support over the phone with software/hardware problems and if i cannot repair it over the phone/remote desktop control then i have to go their.

its a varied job meaning i get office work, collect and analyse stats, fix general hardware problems for desktops, servers, printers, perhiperals etc. client installations. the list goes on.

i did a Level 3 NVQ in IT and then got on to an apprenteship with my local council.

Leave it as a hobby. Waiting a year or two to buy new bits for my computer and put them together can be a bit of fun (as long as it works). Doing it day in day out would become boring very quickly. Especially when you get your pay slip.

its basically a dead industry- most people either custom build or buy one of the mass-produced dell/other OEM machines. every "local pc store" in my town except two have closed down - and only one of the two has many people actually goto it.

Not entirely.. there are fair few high end custom builders around that are probably good fun working for. My brother works for one of them and really enjoys building water-cooled systems/ laptops etc. Some of the systems they send out are awesome and there's no shortage of business.

I would agree that building bog standard desktops is dead and a waste of time.. you simply could not compete with Dell etc and it would be deadly boring.

i dont think these type of jobs exsits any more because a dummy can make a computer these days, if i were u i start my own business in buliding computers , u never know u could be a millionaire in a couple of years,
DONT FORGET WHO GAVE U THE IDEA WHEN U BECOME RICH

You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.

Do I have to come round there and beat you to death with my copy of the Oxford English Dictionary?

Don't make me do it...

You basically contradict yourself totally there. You say nobody needs someone to build a computer because 'a dummy can make a computer these days' then you go on to say the only way is to make your own business out of it? If a 'dummy' can make a computer these days why would they use your business?
