help please : line noise on virgin cable using skype

i talk too friends and family via skype and on virgin the quality is very poor.

i've set up another skype account and setup a call between the 2 and there is no end of permenant static on the line.

anyone come across this and found a solution ?

had previous downtime with the connection and the engineer said the relevant power levels were within acceptable limits.

Aye, unless you're having major connection problems ("line noise" on VOIP would indicate a massive problem with your connection...), it's almost certainly either mic or codec related.
Have you tried checking the mic in windows?
Another VOIP programme?
The different Codecs and settings?

Remember "line noise" on a normal telephone is effectively loss of signal quality due to interference etc (and will mean a poor dial up connection), if you get that sort of problem on your cable connection it's going to be very obvious in anything you do with the connection.

no connection issues that i'm aware of.

tried msn, yahoo for viop and the noise is there as well.

will check it in windows, will sound recorder be ok or do you recommend something else ?

fraid i've no idea what you mean by codecs/settings, any recommendations or links ?
