I've built a new pc (1st time) and when i power it on all the fans are working, including the GPU one but nothing comes up on the monitor, it remains black. It doesnt go to BIOS or anything. The same thing happens to another VGA monitor but when i plug the monitors back to their original pcs they work fine.

I am using a DVI to VGA adaptor

im thing that either the adaptor isnt working or the gpu but im not certain

also the 6 APS LEDs all light blue which means CPU is in 6 phase power mode - not sure what this means

The specs are:
i5 processor
arctic 7 freezer pro rev 2
msi gd65 motherboard
corsair tx 650w psu
4gb g.skill ram (2x2)
coolermaster 690 case
HIS ati raedeon 5770 GPU

Thank you for your time for reading this and your help and input would be much appreciated

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Few things to check which may help, Are all power connectors connected including 8 pin power for the cpu.
Memory in there correct slots - did this on my I7 build.
Try a CMOS reset.

hello to you and thanks for the welcome

yes the 8 pin power is in, so is the 24 pin and 6 pin for gpu. I put the rams in the 1st and 3rd slots, which are both coloured blue

what and how do you do a CMOS reset?

thank you for your quick and helpful reply

i swapped the positions of the ram around so that the 1st ram (which was in the 1st slot) is now in 2nd slot and 2nd ram (which was in 3rd slot) is now in 4th slot.
now i see a picture in the monitor!!!!!! it says gd65 motherboard but after that it says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"
what does this mean?

ok, firstly I would say there is a problem with the motherboard since changing the memory slots gets you to post. Secondly if your harddrives are installed correctly then is the Operating System installed??? Have you set the dvd as the first boot device in the bios and put the windows cd in the drive. The error message means the bios cannot find a bootable drive ie the optical drive or harddrive with os installed is not accessible
