Just completed a new build and can drop into BIOS fine and recognise the SSD, graphics card, memory and CPU fine. However, none of the USB ports are working (I've used a keyboard in the PS/2 port for the time being). The BIOS USB legacy support is enabled so can't figure out what the issue is. Without this support I am unable to install Win 10 on the SSD.

Any help gratefully received, for info motherboard is MSI Z270 Gaming M6 AC board.

Cheers

Have to ask, why haven't you just installed Windows 10 like you want by using the Keyboard via PS/2 like you are in the BIOS?

Just to be clear you've tried all of the USB ports yeah (some may need drivers some might not).

Fair question. I need to use usb to install windows either from an external dvd drive or usb stick. I’ve tried all ports and they did work once after I cleared CMOS, but that was before I was ready to install anything! Now not getting anywhere!

Turns out one USB port was working so now managed to install windows. However I still only have one port working, nothing from the others (usb 3 and usb 2).

Also when shutting down windows the os shuts down screen goes blank/switches off but PC remains powered up and only way to turn off is to hold power button down.

Any thoughts on what the issues may be?

I had issues like this with a dodgy USB3 header on the Mobo, the connector always fit sloppily in the header and if touched would reboot the pc or trap it in an ‘off’ state, or cause reboot cycles. Turns out one of the very thin pins had been bent flat. I repositioned it with some snipe nose pliers and added a spot of solder to give it rigidity. Worked fine after that.

Not saying it’s your issue, but I’d definitely double check the USB3 header. The one on my new Mobo is so much better, rock solid connection.
