Hi guys,

First time builder/windows installer here!

Put my pc together, fired it up and started installing Windows but got to the "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen and it shows my HD (I assume as it says 931.5GB Free - it's a 1TB HD) but I can't proceed as I get:

"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition, see the system log files for more information".

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for quick response.

When I clicked "disk options" I get:
Delete
Format
New
Extend

New is a 'Sun' and seems to be the only selectable option?

Hit that?

yeah, theres no important data on the drive is there as it will wipe it?

click new,or format if it lets you and then try installing

if it's a fresh install then delete isn't a problem. then you can just click next and it will create a partition and hopefully install!

When i choose new it comes up with a Size of 953868 which i can apply.

I clicked apply.

I can format it and create partition 1, but it doesn't seem to work?

whats it saying?

it should let you pick the new partition(the hdd) and install to it

if you have a spare pc plug the hdd into it and format it then put in your new pc

no it should be fine,

all you should do is plug the hdd in and boot from dvd drive with windows disc in and follow the install guide

format the hdd again and start over

when you get to the new "sun" part click it and install windows
