does anyone know of any software which i can run and access me NAS anywhere outside my home network and allow other uses i specify access folders too?

i have a western digital my world book 500GB, it comes a WD version of MioNet. however you have to pay at the end of the month trial and i don't want to have to pay for something that should be included!!!

so if anyone has any great freeware software or shareware i'd be very VERY happy!!!!

How about setting up an FTP? Not sure about the Windows FTP server but most other one will let you have different folder access depending on username etc.

There should be quite a few FTP servers to pick from I used warftpd and glftpd in the past to do the stuff you was asking for.

Raiden is good but you have to pay for it.

Windows FTP will do what you want and you set permissions using NTFS permissions. Probably the best bet IMHO.

You don't want to use Mionet anyway - it restricts what files you can share.

If you don't want to use Windows ftp, try http://www.whitsoftdev.com/ - a huge 58.5k download

okay i used one called file-zilla... i find this hard work. is there an idiots guide to FTP?

can i use my computer as the server? do i need port forwarding? how do i do it for BT1500 router?
