Hi all , erm well the problem im having is ill be playing a game then all of a sudden the computer will just turn off , IE power down , now the heat from the PSU is insane , and im guessing this is due to over heating , am i right in guessing its the PSU and not anything else? , IE CPU , Graphics Card?.

Thanks for the quick replys guys.

ok heres my specs:

Thermaltake VB1000BWS Soprano SuperMidi Tower - Black
Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6400+ 3.20GHz

Zotac GeForce 8800 GTS (AMP!) Edition 512MB GDDR3
DGM L2231WD 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-Bit

im using a Duo Orb cooler too for the CPU im not sure how u guys rate this cooler >> http://www.pcforce.co.nz/images/COOLTTDuOrb.jpg

Erm the PSU is 600W thats all i know , not sure of the make unless i take out the mother board to check , really hate this case need a new one.

and as i say it only seems to do it when the computer is under major load , like when im playing AOC with max settings.

ive had the PSU for 2 months so cant be good , i checked my temps as regarding the motherboard and cpu and GPU

Motherboard = 49c
CPU = 57c
GPU = 55c idle......

I think the MB and CPU temps are kinda high not sure what else todo about them ...

i was looking at this PSU is it a good buy:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-031-OC

and was gonna get new case since the airflow in this one doesnt seem to be great , was thinking of this one:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-065-AN

Also can u tell me if this Graphics card would fit in that case no problem , was thinking of getting this to upgrade:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-124-XF

any suggestions u may have regarding the case and PSU i would be most greatful.

Thanks
Tabasco.

ok well i just tryed speedfan again , when ive put the comp underload now look at the temps.... what the heck is TEMP3 ... thats so high...... ill try the other 2 programs out now thanks.

+1 to that, my mate's had 3 cheap psu's die on him and the last one killed board and chip

also have to agree your temps are a little on the high side a new cooler would also be a good idea, also check if there is a dust build up in the heatsink on the cpu as that will cause the chip to overheat as well and might not need a new cooler, unless you plan on overclocking:cool:

I guess i could always put my Stock cooler back on , at least thats made for it and been tested.. so should be ok.

CPUID HW i see that one of the temps is 79'c do you know what it is as i haven't used that program before, your core temp readings are not at all bad for a 3.2Ghz x2 i had my old x2 6000+ running at the same speed and was around the same temp so i would say it's possably not that but they are not 100% load temps, could you post a pic of a 100% load reading

the ocz psu above should do you just fine, can't remember if i said above but i've got a 600W ocz gameXsteam firstly running my 6000+ x2 and 8800gt sli and at the mo running my current set-up and it's about 18 months / 2 years old now and still going strong

also silly question but you do have a surge protector on your pc don't you, i ask because a mate of mine who's been into pc's for years and has only just got round to buying one :)

Na dont have a surge protector >.< i guess is should have really , well ill buy the new PSU and wait and see how i get on then , if the computer starts to switch off again then ill look into new case , CPU cooler , new GPU etc...

yes defo get a surge protector, as for your gpu my idle temps are 45 for one and 38 for the other but i'm running gt's in sli and a custom cooling setup with about 10 fans, and yes it doe's sound like it's hovering but it's in a vented box with lid so can make quite when watching a film or 5.1 headset for gaming so noise not really a problem lol

grab a program called occt link there are loads of tests in the new one one of them is a psu test, it loads the system to 100% and also has tests that test and log temps of cpu and gpu

run a few of them and post the logs here so we can check out if there's anything wrong

ok thanks Raz ill do that now.

Ok heres the results , not sure what pics u want , so ill post a lot of them
also if your wondering why the Power Supply results arnt here , its because it got to 30 seconds into the test and the computer turned off , so it does look like the PSU is beyond rubish.

Hope the Image results help on anything else tho.
