Hi guys. Since I have put my soundblaster z in a few weeks ago a strange problem has been happening. 4 times whilst gaming on BF4 I have had the screen freeze and a loud buzzing from my speakers, meaning I have to restart by holding the power button. Now I never had this happen before installation of the new soundcard or my headphones. I might be wrong here, but I think either of them are causing the problem. My cpu is Overclocked at 5ghz and just to make sure that wasnt the problem I tried with default settings. Same for my graphics card. Happens with them on default too. The crash is random and as I say only happened 4 times.
Could there be something causing the crash from my soundcard? I play BF4 on ultra setting with 4xMSAA and 150 res scale. But I keep AA post off. I play at 128 hertz as I have a small overclock on my monitor too. The game plays smooth and looks great. I play a lot of other games and this only happens on BF4.
Any advice guys would be great, thanks. I am going to update to the latest Nvidia drivers, as I missed the new ones.

I originally posted this in Sound thread, but moved it here as it could be down to something else.

Just check for Hardware errors like below:

If there are no entries like in mine above, then at least you can rule out hardware.

Yeah it just freezes Wazza and a loud buzzing. No code at all, and once it restarts no box coming up. My CPU Temp was only at 58 when it crashed so im not sure whats caused it. Ive got whocrashed for next time silver thanks. Just need to get to the bottom of this now.

could be memory or gpu if it freezes like that and sound buzz

could try two clicks more vccio voltage,(idk what you have it sat at atm?)

yeah im just thinking of things

still could be a conflict somewhere with the sound card since its been doing it when you've added it

from my experience lockups with sound buzzing are usually pc memory gpu memory or gpu driver related, but ive not had a soundcard installed at the time

Check your Soundcard drivers are up to date while your on m8, if you just used the driver disc that came with the card then they're probably out of date.

Ok thanks again guys for the advice, so I have just uninstalled the root enumerators from device manager that where giving a yellow warning, after restart they seem to have gone. I have the latest sound drivers and now the latest Nvidia driver. I have put my 5ghz overclock back on but used a little more vccio than I normally would too. Once the kids have had their dinner I will jump on and see how it is now. Will keep you posted guys and let you know if it stops crashing or not. Thanks so much.
