Help pls. Hard drive fail

My seagate 1tb hdd is not working and I'm going crazy.

It is recognized in device manager but not shown in computer.

It is also shown in disk management but has not been allocated a drive letter and seems not recognized as formatted.

I also tested it with hdtune and there's no bad sector.

The drive had been working perfectly until I was stupid enough to hot swap it. When plugged back, this happened.

All my data is is in it, anyone knows how to deal with it? Thanks a lot

Uninstall it in device manager then restart your pc

Have you tried any file recovery products? There are plenty of free ones on the net. If you can see the drive in Windows and it tests out then you may be able to recover.

I've used GetBackNTFS to successfully get data back from a situation like this. It's not free tho.

I've tried Easyrecovery but seems not working in win7. Always told me to debug.

Says "Healthy(Primary Partition)" but doesn't show File System which should be NTFS I think.

On server 2k8 you have to right click drives and set them online before you can use them, I'd imagine 7 is similar.

Do a search for "active undelete" again, not a free one but it's cheap and saved my bacon twice. I've even recovered a dead raid-0 with it.

I does not have a letter assigned to it?

What happens when you give it a drive letter?

If it doesn't show up you could check can TestDisk find partitions/file system.
