Help - Power Cables

Hi,

I've lost the power cable for my hard drive, so went online just now to find a new one. Which is harder than I thought. The cable am looking for goes to what looks like an old PS2 type connection? Any ideas?

External hard drive?

I'm pretty sure internal is only molex or sata

No its the 12v power adapter plug for the exeternal HDD. Normally it would just be your normal plug in type but this is well similar to that of a PS2 connection but for power.

Can't think of its name, therfore struggling to buy one!

oh, right, thought you meant ps2 as in playstation 2.

What you have is a 6 pin mini-DIN, I think

And its more expensive than what the HDD enclosure cost me :rolleyes:

Ebay. Although you'd have to get a pin-out from the supplier. Also try Google, loads there, but again you'd have to get the pin out.

much cheaper, safer and easier to buy a new enclosure probably. just check if its IDE or SATA.

Well the HDD pictured is IDE

So does this cabple go directly into the wall or does it go into converter? If so, is the other end the same?

from the look of the screw in the top right of that picture its a Seagate Barracuda ST3200822A 200Gb 7200RPM ATA/100 8Mb Cache

Yea, the fact that all of that is written on the label probably helps as well.

Its SATA, will just buy another enclosure seems the cheap way.
