Ignore that last statement, they are the sata express slots on the side below the graphics card, I am using two of those for the SSDs and two of the other sata for the HD and buray.

I can try switches today if they are easy, I want to put the memory back anyway in a minute.

I only know of 3 switches, EPU, TPU and XMP, all are off, an LED lights up if they are on.

I never got around to playing with clocking, I intended to when I bought it.

OK thanks, I am just putting the memory back then calling it a day.
I won't have time tomorrow to build out of the box so I'd best leave it until Monday. Could play with the switches if you think of anything.

I am OK about building outside the case, to make it easier, it would be best if I could do it on the floor beside the case with the PSU still installed. Cables are long enough.
Just checking the cooler, it's big and air cooled.

Both Friday and Saturday I managed to get the PC to boot up after many attempts so I left it running all day then, and when not in use I was running Furmark or Prime95 constantly just to load gpu or cpu.
Sunday I could not get it to boot, nor this morning. When it is running it is healthy, it's just getting it to the bios that is the problem.
Going to strip it down and build outside the case now.

No, I ran the windows memory test, which restarted the PC and reported no errors, I don't know how good that is.
I also tried two of the 4 sticks individually.

OK all set up outside the case. Just the mobo and cpu with power, I had to leave the graphics card in situ as I can't get at the PCI express release clip (how are you supposed to get these big cards out again?) but left the gpu power cables unplugged.
I can see the mobo LED qcodes and would expect something other than 00 to show even without the graphics card. Have tried 5 or 6 times but always 00 just like when it was in the case.
Does this sound like the fault is in the mobo?

The delay was me struggling to get the mobo ad cpu power cables off the board

No memory, I thought I would get a qcode to say pre memory failed that way and it wouldn't try to go any further.
I would have thought that when running furmark the PSU was under much more load than startup, is that not the case then?

If I have to get a new mobo, I would go for mobo and cpu as I see ocuk don't do 2011 anymore. I will have a rethink as well as I don't play games on the PC anymore, long story but I had to give up about 18 months ago.

Aaah I knew you were going to suggest that. The cooler is huge and I seem to remember was a pain to install.
