HELP q flash won't work?

its not about it "staying" renamed its about if its actually renamed properly in the first place. when you look at a file in your computer (EG make a new text document on your desktop) does it show "new text document" OR "New Text Document.txt"

If its not the latter, renaming will NOT change the file extension to bin, and therfore will not work.

Also you unzipped the file from the website and then renamed the proper file, not just rename the zip file right?

mb_bios_b550m-aorus-elite_f11d.zip needs to be extracted then the file inside seems to end with extension *.11d the extracted file is 32,768Kb

make sure this file is renamed to GIGABYTE.bin and when you see properties on the file it shows as a bin file, not a "11d" file.

EDIT: thats for the B550M Elite but the same process applies.

the file extension says .bin at then in properties.

i should be getting my board this week and will have to do the same thing. ill let you know if i figure anything out.

According to the manual, you should have the 24pin atx in and 1 CPU power cable plugged in.

BTW are you doing this with no CPU,GPU and ram, just an empty board?

According to 1 thing i read, when you press the power on the board will automatically go into the Qflash plus and flash the bios after a few mins.

"
Ensure that your power supply is connected to your motherboard and try and boot your computer. After about 20 seconds, Q-Flash Plus will notice that the computer is not booting correctly and will start the BIOS flashing process automatically.

You will see that the BIOS LED will start flashing on your motherboard which indicates that the BIOS flash is currently in progress. After a few minutes, the LED shall stop flashing which means that the BIOS flash has been completed."

It doesnt mention anything about pressing the button so...

Found this info floating about youtube:

"USB 3.x flash drives won't work (even if they're Type-A), and 32GB USB flash drives won't work (even if they're USB 2.0). Can't confirm about 16GB, but I needed to use a USB 2.0 8GB stick to get QFlash to work. Using the 32GB USB 2.0 or 3.0 sticks just flat out didn't work and the motherboard gave no indication about the fault (QFlash LED didn't show, fans didn't spin on anything, actually thought the mobo was DOA!)"

But then others saying it works for them with a 32gb USB3.0 drive. so it seems hit and miss to what USB drive will work.

It took me reformatting my USB drive 3 times before it worked with the MSI B550, it's a useful system but it seems that it absolutely won't work if a single factor isn't exactly perfect.

Followed this guide to the dot, worked first time.

I have a USB 2.0 stick which I know is bootable in every system. And it has activity led on it, very useful for tracking if something is happening.

B550 Aorus elite and yes in correct port and renamed to Gigabyte.bin
donubt it matters, but name should be in caps "GIGABYTE.bin"

It's flashing a white light at the rear I/O whenever I turn the PSU on is that normal or do I have a dead motherboard?
Light briefly flashes when power is connected, yes.

When Q-flash+ is active, after pressing the button, there is another led, orange I think, visible from rear.

did you get this working?

I got my board and it worked right away.

Plugged in 24 pin + cpu power only. no CPU, RAM or anything else. insert USB,

Hold the Qflash button for a sec or 2 then just leave it while it flashes, it will auto turn off then install everything and profit!
