Hey guys, I built my PC yesterday, First time in ages using Intel [was a AMD'er]

I'm on a p5k-e with the newest bios.

Basically I've disabled SpeedStep already but still this is what i get:

then for a second or two it'll jump to:

2400rs1.jpg

how can i get it to just stay at stock speed? have i forgot to disable/enable something?

Thanks

Joe.

I'm abit of a idiot when it comes to BIOS, when you said change the multplier did you mean change the CPU Ratio?

to overclock you should have the following disabled...

C1E Support
Max CPUID Limit
Vanderpool Technology
CPU TM Function
Execute Disable Bit
SpeedStep

As Wingz says: disable C1E. fwiw, you are running at stock, but the bios winds down the multi when the machine is not under load.

If your not going to overclock leave it. And if you do overclock leave it...

Nothing wrong with the CPU being lowered when it is not doing anything. When it is needed it will run at full speed.
