Hey guys just bought a R9 290x 8GB off the bay and I have a strange image on boot, It goes away afterwards and I have installed the latest drivers so far it seems fine apart from the boot image.

It's a bit annoying as it covers up all my bios options.

Should I be worried, is this normal?

No that is not normal.

So is it fine when it gets to the desktop? I.e after drivers have loaded?

Yes I havent done any benchmarks or played any games yet but I have 1440p resolution and it seems ok.

X58 system, I am not using any adapters for the power supply my Corsair PSU has two 6 pins with an optional two pin (using one 6+2 and one 6 one cable / same power line)

Just removed the card and reinstalled it, It's 100% seated correctly but I still have the strange boot image.

I am using the top DVI port, should I try HDMI instead? (even so DVI shouldn't do this I assum)

Ok so when I disable the startup image I do not see the purple lines instead I get black screen for 2 seconds then the basic BIOS screen (without the image)

I have the latest BIOS for my board, What do you guys think is there a way around it so I can have my splash screen?

Should I still be worried lol =)

Thanks for all the support.

I cant see that being a bios issue, I don't think I have a card that is incompatible with the bios that causes that sort of corruption, it will either work or it wont. That card is faulty if its seated correctly and giving that output. If you actually go into the bios is the screen still corrupt?

is there a bios switch on the gpu? I think one bios is non eufi not sure but try with the switch in the other position

its nothing to worry about its just that the bios doesn't support/display the splash screen correctly, due to the mb being older

the cards not faulty,it works in windows fine? just cant display splash screen? its fine its cos its x58 older bios

Its only a splash screen, is it really going to hurt that much?

Reason I said to disable that option is I saw this issue a week ago when I upgraded my brothers PC and saw exactly the same thing.

I suppose not stulid, I just got freaked as it cost 300 smackers and I want to be sure its ok.

I did quite like that splash screen, oh well.

Could anyone give me a reliable benchmark figure with any software so I can run a quick test and confirm its running up to par.

Thanks

Heya,

So I got 3D mark firestrike DEMO

My result was 7147 with a stock I7 950

The framerate for the first basic tests was 40-60 fps then only 13 on the phsysics test and as low as 9 on the combined test.

What do you guys think is that a fair score?

I will be overclocking my CPU soon so as not to hinder the card.
