Help removing HDD files

I don't know if the ram will or wouldn't, only way is to put it together and see. if you bought the ram online and it's not been 7days then you can return it if it does interfer.
or you could return the cooler and get

if you are thinking about going the cooler exchange route if the cooler comes with pre-applied tim don't take the plastic cover off thats protecting the tim, just carefully hold the cooler over the socket and see how far the fan overhangs the ram slot(if at all).

Cheeky ninja editor!! :p

Yeah, i agree with you though, win7 will reactivate a few times before it gets flagged. When it does, ring em, follow the instruction for reactivation.

As it will only be the second time It's being used, (on the same HDD but seperate MB) do you think it will be highly unlikely that it will be flagged?

only one way to find out, and if it does need phone activation it should be automated but if not people usually go the 'my motherboard died but they didn't have the same model replacement' route ;)

Ah, you guys have been great help :)

My components should be arriving in the next hour now, as you can almost defiantly guess; it is my fist build.

SSD worth the investment at the moment?

Personally, i think its the biggest performance boost you can give to a pc. All my quality builds use SSD's now.
Couple that with a 1tb sata for you files, and you'll have a great rig.
Suggestion: return the Win7 pro you bought and get a SSD for your OS and apps. All data and docs and be placed/redirected to the sata drive.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. :)

Would a 64GB be enougth or isit worth paying the extra for a 120GB?

Well mine is a 120Gb Vertex 3, and i have win7 x64 Ult. office 2010, Adobe CS5, BF3, BFBC2 and a few more games installed and have about 10gb left.

Considering the OS would have probably cost around £105 (?) i'd add the extra £20 to get one of the drives fowler suggested. They're all good.
Then sit back and watch windows boots up in 15 secs. :D Plus all the other read/write benefits.

OS came to £68 :) I dont want to push to far over my Budget as It's my girlfriends Birthday this week and this system has skint me enougth as it is.

I think I'd be happy with just the OS running on the SDD, and maybe battlefeild if i could fit that on a 64GB too.

the oem home premium is £80

edit scrap that seems I'm wrong :)

I think I may give the SDD a miss as I am to eager to get the system up and running by tonight.

Plus by sending the OS back it will bring me back under budget just nicely. (I was annoyed that I had to buy a new one in the first place)

I will look at getting an SSD in the future though; it will also give me something to look forward too.

as it's your first build good luck getting it done in one day ;)

I could just be slow but it still takes me couple of days to build even after 5yrs :)

order the ssd now and it should arrive tomorrow, get the system built tonight and switch on to see if it posts and boots into the bios. pop the ssd in tomorrow and install the os :)

oh and if you bought the motherboard from here or a couple of other participating etailers you get £25 back due to vat cashback offer http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18338613

have a look at the t&c for the etailers involved as can't name them on here http://msicashback.co.uk/terms.html

This.

Takes me about 30 mins to physcially build a rig, then about 4 hours to do all the installs/updates.
BUT, unless you are on a deadline, why rush and risk getting it wrong?
Take your time and get it right. I've often got case connectors the wrong way round due to rushing.
I've even plugged the fireware plug into the USB and then fried my 16gb usb stick. Bad news when it was almost brand new and cost nearly £60 !!!

Yes I am aware of that offer, thanks :)

So guys i got an SSD. Crucial m4 128GB....

I want to use the SSD just for the OS and games that I want to play regularly.

How do I stop files downloading directly into the drive? E.G. I've downlaoded firefox but it goes straight into the SSD under Program Files..

I have my 1TB HDD also installed.

Thanks :)
