Hi.
My son is driving me mad saying his PC is slow, FPS issues, Crashes From time to time.
When he plays his games he says it lags & crashes on Fraps & OBS.

I thought this build of PC would have had no problems in running some of these programs.

Could anyone help Please.

PC Build As Follows.
Motherboard..MSI Z87 Gaming 5 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX.
Processor..Intel i7-4770K @ 4.40 Overclocked by Overclockers
Memory..Kingston Hyper X 16GB (2X8) DDR3 1600 CL9 240
Graphics Card..EVGA gforce gtx 770 2GB GDDR5 Superclocked
SSD..Hyper X Savage 480 GB

Screen resolution will make a big difference as well.

If he's trying to stream at high res it will be putting a lot of strain on the PC.

It's a decent pc. To be honest, sounds a bit like a case of too much software/adware/etcetc clogging up the system. I'd go for a fresh Windows install before anything else, making sure all drivers are up to date too.

That, and make sure your son is using sensible settings on these things.

Have you witnessed the issues for yourself? Can you spend an evening with him to see if there really are problems and that he isn't being a typical child trying to emotionally bully you into swapping the 770 for a 980.

The spec looks good.

Got full anti virus/Anti spyware protection? (You know what kids are like)
not got 4 thousands games installed at once and no space?
92 icons in the system tray all loaded once?

Its a case of sit down and have a play yourself and see what you think, kids think money grows on trees and "Well my friend has a 970, so I need one
He has a SSD for crying out loud.

Personally I'd be happy if my father ever built me a pc, nevermind a decent spec one.

As above I think pc is fine just maybe slow due to other programs virsues etc? I would try pc firs if its slow check event viewer and if nothing there fresh install of windows :D Btw I think he just wants a upgrade, this is just excuse to do so :P

Where are fraps/obs recording too? Even on a lossy codec the bitrate is very high and quickly fills up hard disk space. If it is the same drive powering the OS and that the game is reading from, perhaps that is part of the issue?

If it is crashing, fresh install would be my first avenue

Thank You all for your comments.
I did a fresh install 2 weeks ago when he had the NEW SSD (Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit)
all drivers are up to date. He has 132gb free of 447 gb, Fraps/Obs recording to C: & he doesn't have loads of apps open.
PSU..Corsair CX750
Monitor..iiyama Model PL2773HD

Only suggestion I would have is Have Fraps saving to another drive, this helps break up peak load on the ssd where it is trying to load windows/game textures/save Fraps data.

Otherwise, I would call that a pc I would be proud to own!

Install HWmonitor and CPUID, check that it is not overheating, or dropping the frequency.

What cooling is it using? Are the fans on a PWM profile?

Maybe, he is trying too hard to fill the 2GB of Vram. :)

Again Thank You For your comments.
This afternoon I have spoken to Overclockers Tech Support & he advises upgrading the graphics card to 4gb, i.e EVGA Gforce GTX 970 4gb SC.

Really hope this is going to fix it...

Have you actually seen this lag and crashing yourself? There's absolutely nothing wrong with the current spec and a fresh install should run with no issues at all

Don't be daft u don't need new gfx card whoever told u that is a numpty. Its either junk on PC or settings misconfigured or somit.
